About the Blog

Building on last year’s success, the 2008 ICMA Annual Conference Blog will feature commentary on the 94th Annual Conference taking place in Richmond, Virginia, September 21-24.  The posts will be written primarily by more than 20 ICMA members, but anyone can–and is encouraged to–add comments or ask questions on the blog by using the “comment” link at the bottom of each post.

We are excited to announce that members of the ICMA Conference Host, Planning, and Evaluation Committees are among those who will be blogging, as well as ICMA leadership, several keynote speakers, and students from around the country.

The purpose of the blog is two fold:

  • To give those people not attending the conference a chance to hear about (and weigh in on) the ideas, issues, and events being discussed in Richmond;
  • For conference attendees to reference the blog to hear about sessions they missed, get recommendations on what they should do while in Richmond, and know how others are interpreting the same experience.

ICMA especially hopes to see the blog used as a forum for discussion after the conference, once everyone has a chance to think about translating what they learned in Richmond to the realities of their communities.

If you have any questions or would like to participate in future blog endeavors, please contact Abigail Lundy at alundy@icma.org.

Enjoy!
